Webinar on Protecting Your Charity Webinar, 23 Jun

Posted on 10 Jun 2021

Join the Charities Regulator on Wednesday, 23 June 2021 at 12 noon for a webinar where you will hear from members of An Garda Síochána and the Compliance and Enforcement Unit of the Charities Regulator on the topics of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing as well as the Charities Governance Code.

While the overall risk of money laundering and terrorist financing in the charity sector is judged to be medium-low, charities can be attractive targets for money launderers and terrorist organisations. Our ‘Guidance on Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing for Charities’ is available in the ‘Guidance for Charities’ section of the Charities Regulator’s website. We encourage any person with a key role in a charity to familiarise themselves with it.

In addition to hearing from An Garda Síochána, attendees will hear presentations from senior staff members from the Compliance & Enforcement Unit of the Charities Regulator. The topics covered will include the various supports that are available to charity trustees when completing the Charities Governance Code as well as the importance of financial controls in charities.

This free lunchtime event is open for registration now. Our online events can book out quickly so book your place here to avoid disappointment.

All of our events provide an opportunity for us to hear about the needs and opinions of charity trustees, which in turn inform how we approach planning for future events and how we carry out our broader regulatory work.
