Invitation: Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications Statement of Strategy 2021 – 2023 Interactive Session, 11 Dec

Posted on 4 Dec 2020

In accordance with the Public Service Management Act 1997, this Department has commenced preparation of its Statement of Strategy to cover the three year period 2021 – 2023. The Strategy will reflect the commitments of the Government as set out in Programme for Government – Our Shared Future where there are significant commitments falling to be delivered by this Department in relation to climate action, regional development and sustainability. The objectives we develop will serve as a strategic framework for delivery by the Department during this period.

The work of our Department is organised around four thematic areas which will form the basis of the strategy. These are:

1: Climate leadership – leading on and delivering a coherent and effective response to climate disruption

2: Environment and sustainable resource use – using resources with care and responsibility, supporting the development of a circular economy, minimising the generation of waste and consistently enhancing our environment

3: Connectivity – providing access to a world class communications network, supporting regional and rural development and connected communities and enabling citizens to embrace digital opportunities

4: Governance and Regulation – ensuring good governance, competitive markets in the energy, telecoms and waste sectors, innovation and sustainable practices.

The Department would like to hear the views of key stakeholders in order to contribute to the formulation of its Statement of Strategy. An interactive session will take place via Zoom on Friday 11 December at 11am.

Please confirm you attendance by emailing SIU@decc.gov.ie no later than close of business Wednesday 9 December, one attendee per organisation. Zoom details for the meeting will be sent out to confirmed attendees on Thursday 10 December
