As Ireland prepares to assume the EU Presidency in July, we have a unique opportunity to champion our sector’s key role not just at home in Ireland, but across the EU, in preserving and enhancing human rights and democracy, as well as strengthening the connection between people, their communities, the State and Europe. Seamus Boland, President of the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC), will be addressing this theme in a special keynote address.
Jerry Buttimer TD, the Minister of State with oversight of charities, will deliver a special address ahead of the imminent launch of the Government's new five-year strategy to support the community and voluntary sector.
We are delighted to announce that Eamon Ryan will be joining us for a special address entitled “Keeping Hope Alive: The Role of Civil Society in Forging a Fairer and Safer Future”. Drawing on his long experience as both an activist and a politician, Eamon will reflect on the role of civil society in a world where the rise of extremism, misinformation and political turmoil threatens our ability to create the societies we want, and specifically to tackle the cost-of-living crisis and the climate crisis, both driven by our dependence on fossil fuels.
