More about Down Syndrome Ireland

Down Syndrome Ireland is the voice of people with Down syndrome and their families throughout Ireland. We provide a wide range of vital services including: Early Intervention, Speech & Language Therapy, Health, Education, Personal Development and Employment Opportunities that enhance the lives of thousands of children and adults with Down syndrome.  Every year we need to raise at least 87% of our €3.7+ million costs to enable us to continue providing these essential services, and we are therefore very heavily reliant on public funding.

DSI host a calendar of fundraising events each year, most notably our annual HB Fundays which call on the public to host a fun party with family, friends, colleagues and your community while enjoying Ireland’s favourite ice cream.  This campaign is an integral source of funding for the development of DSI’s nationwide support services and it has raised a fantastic €3.2 million over the past 17 years. Each HB Funday party makes a real and lasting difference to children with Down syndrome and their families throughout Ireland. Over 700 parties are expected to take place this year and the funds raised will give these children the very best start in life, with an education that suits their individual needs and prepares them for independent living.
