JRS Ireland is now seeking to recruit for the role of Projects and Outreach Support Worker. This is a full-time role (35 hours per week), administratively based in the Dublin area, with national travel and service delivery throughout the South-East region required. This will include, but is not limited to Waterford, Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Laois and Kildare.
This is a 24-month fixed term contract for the duration of funded service in the South-East region, delivered via the RAISE Project and supported by the Asylum Migration and Integration Fund 2021-2027.
Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Projects and Outreach Support Worker position is to support the development and delivery of projects, outreach and other services in IPAS centres in accordance with the needs of residents and the strategic priorities for JRS Ireland. Duties below are illustrative, and not exhaustive, and also are subject to change in line with priority needs of protection applicants and changes in the organisation’s strategic direction.
Illustrative duties:
- To support the delivery of regular JRS Ireland information and advice clinics in IPAS centres.
- To assist JRS Ireland staff in the provision of outreach, accompaniment and integration supports to individuals, families and children residing in IPAS centres.
- To support JRS Ireland staff, volunteers and interns in the delivery of specific agreed projects.
- To support delivery of other activities in IPAS centres according to need and in consultation with your line manager.
- To assist with the planning and delivery of activities and other initiatives as part of agreed JRS Europe and JRS International projects.
- To contribute to JRS Ireland publications, in print and on-line, that give a voice to forced migrants and to support the design, maintenance and distribution of materials for protection applicants.
- To assist with JRS Ireland awareness raising and education activities, including the JRS Ireland Intercultural & Interfaith Calendar.
- To support delivery of the JRS Ireland Summer Programme, Christmas Appeals and other JRS Ireland activities as required.
Skills & Qualifications:
The successful candidate will ideally possess:
- A relevant third-level qualification in community development, social work, social science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 1 year or more demonstrable work experience in a similar role.
- A full clean driving licence.
- An understanding and knowledge of the asylum process in Ireland, the operation of the Direct Provision system and the integration of migrants.
- Experience of working with vulnerable groups, social exclusion and disadvantaged communities.
- Commitment to social justice and the JRS mission ‘to accompany, to serve and to advocate the cause of refugees and forcibly displaced persons’.
