Irish Hospice Foundation (IHF) is a national charity that addresses dying, death and bereavement in Ireland. Our vision is an Ireland where people facing end of life or bereavement, and those who care for them, are provided with the care and support that they need. 

Through advocacy and education, and the provision of services such as Nurses for Night Care and the Bereavement Support Line and our national programmes such as Hospice Friendly Hospitals, Dying Well at Home and Caru – Supporting Care & Compassion at End of Life in Nursing Homes, Adult Bereavement Programme and Irish Childhood Bereavement Network, IHF works to ensure that every person in Ireland can die and grieve well, whatever their age and wherever the place. 

About the Role

Job Purpose: Irish Hospice Foundation receive regular enquiries from members of the public and professionals seeking information, resources, education, and training to support end-of -life care at home. 

Salary: €20,810 - €24,483 (27 hr contract – 12.30pm – 6pm) depending on experience

             €28,518 - €33,551 (FTE)

Contract Type: 1-year fixed term contract (end date 31st May 2027)

Job Location: Our offices are based on Nassau St., Dublin 2. We have a hybrid work model in place (a minimum requirement of 2 days a week in the office).

Reporting to: Information Support Line Lead

Responsibilities:

  • Be a point of contact for enquiries that come into IHF seeking information about life limiting illnesses, end of life care, accessing services, education and training and resources.
  • Provide signposting in response to enquiries.
  • Be aware of IHF internal structures and partnerships already in place that support end-of-life and bereavement care.
  • Continue to build a library of resources to support enquiries.
  • Assist the Information and Support Line lead with reporting: Provide information to the Information & Support Line Lead for inclusion in quarterly reports for the board and ad hoc reports and information on the service as required.
  • Provide Administrative support to the lead e.g. mailing campaigns and resources, data management collection, social media campaigns.
  • Maintaining & recording data on CRM system.
  • Support the Information and Support Line lead with raising awareness of the line through IHF’s Marketing and Communications, e.g. support content for social media posts.
  • Cover leave for Healthcare Team if required.
  • Any other tasks as may be assigned by the manager, lead or designated person

Qualifications and Experience

IHF is open to applications from candidates who have experience in most but not all of the following areas. The successful candidate will be supported through their induction to increase their knowledge and ability to deliver on the responsibilities outlined here. Further training and ongoing support will be available.

Essential:

  • Minimum of two years' experience in public facing or customer focused role
  • Proven experience in a supportive role, ideally providing support to the public
  • Excellent organisational, administration and data management skills.
  • Strong empathetic and interpersonal skills, a warm friendly manner.
  • Strong communication and listening skills and ability to multi-task, be self-directed and manage time effectively.
  • Good working knowledge of Zoom, MS Office, and MS Teams.

Desirable:  

  • Experience of working in a healthcare setting
  • Experience of providing care
  • Experience of the charity sector.
  • Awareness of the impact of dying, death on people.
  • A working knowledge or experience of GDPR.
