Education Manager

The Education Manager oversees the day-to-day management and delivery of our education programme. 

iScoil is the leading online education provider for young people aged 13–16 who are not in mainstream school. Learners are referred to iScoil through Tusla’s Educational Welfare Service.

We deliver a flexible, personalised, and evidence-informed learning model, accredited by QQI. The programme delivers excellent learning outcomes and a high progression rate, supporting learners to move confidently into further education, training, employment, or a return to school.

Job Title: Education Manager

Role Purpose

The Education Manager oversees the day-to-day management and delivery of our education programme. The successful candidate will lead a remote team of tutors, develop and enhance the curriculum, and ensure that all Quality Assurance (QA) processes meet QQI requirements.

Reports to: Director of Education

Key Responsibilities

1.  Programme Management

  • ​​The successful candidate is responsible for ensuring the education programme is delivered to a high standard and meets the needs of learners.
  • They will lead curriculum development and manage programme development cycles from start to finish.
  • They will regularly review courses and learner feedback to make sure the learning experience is effective and engaging.
  • They will identify any gaps in the quality of the programme and put practical solutions in place to address them.
  • They will find and introduce innovative learning resources to support both learners and tutors.

2. Manage a Remote Team of Tutors

  • The successful candidate will lead and support the tutor team to ensure they deliver a high-quality programme that meets learner needs.
  • They will identify training needs and coordinate professional development for tutors to keep teaching standards high.
  • They will act as the main point of contact for tutors, helping them solve daily challenges in a remote environment.
  • They will work closely with the Programme Manager to foster collaboration across the mentor and tutor teams, and ensure effective programme delivery.

3. Implement Quality Standards

  • The successful candidate will maintain iScoil’s quality standards while ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • They will manage the practical steps for certification, including internal verification, external authentication, and results approval.
  • They will review all course content and information to ensure it is accurate and up-to-date, and meets the award specification.
  • They will coordinate the Academic Sub-committee and Results Approval Panel meetings, acting as a key point of contact, and reporting to both.

Essential Criteria:

The successful candidate must have:

  • A qualification at level 8 (or equivalent) on the NFQ in a relevant education area.

  • A minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role, with practical experience working with QQI Level 3 (or similar) standards.
  • A strong pedagogical knowledge of online learning.

Desirable Criteria:

The successful candidate will ideally have:

Project Management: Experience in project management to manage programme development cycles and educational initiatives in collaboration with design and technology team members.

QA & QQI Experience: Practical experience of QQI assessment and validation procedures, with the ability to implement and monitor QA procedures.

Remote Leadership: Remote leadership experience to effectively manage and motivate a fully remote team.

Operational independence: The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities, modelling high academic standards through excellent written and verbal communication.

Digital Literacy: Strong digital literacy and hands-on experience with Virtual Learning Environments, and a good understanding of technology-enhanced teaching, learning, and assessment.

UDL & Accessibility: Knowledge of Universal Design for Learning, accessibility principles, and active learning strategies, with a strong appreciation of their impact on learner engagement and outcomes.

Interpersonal Skills: Strong teamwork skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and partners.

Sector Knowledge: An understanding of the Irish education system, particularly the Junior Cycle curriculum, and the factors that lead young people to disengage from mainstream education.

Terms and Conditions

  • Contract: This role is full-time. Appointment is subject to Garda vetting and reference checks.
  • Location: Hybrid role with an office base at iScoil’s office in Acorn Centre, Blackpitts, Dublin 8.
