The Children’s Grief Centre is a support service for school-aged children and young people affected by loss through death, parental separation or divorce. 

The Children’s Grief Centre is a support service for school-aged children and young people affected by loss through death, parental separation or divorce. We provide a safe, confidential and supportive place for children, young people and their families who are grieving. 

The Childrens Grief Centre is now seeking to appoint a 

Chief Executive Officer

The CEO plays a pivotal role in guiding the Centre ensuring the wellbeing of those it supports and fostering a compassionate, safe and inclusive environment for staff, volunteers and clients.

We are seeking a self-motivated, values-driven leader with a strong sense of integrity who can model best practice in governance, management and decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a collaborative leadership style that empowers staff and volunteers to achieve their full potential. Working closely with the Board of Directors the CEO will be responsible for driving the Centres strategic direction, overseeing sustainable growth and ensuring that services continue to meet the highest standards of quality and care.

Essential Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. social care, social work, community development or mental health)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience at senior management/leadership level in non-profit, social care, mental health, education or community sectors.
  • Knowledge of financial management, budgeting and experience in grant applications & reporting.
  • Familiarity with legal and regulatory requirements relating to nonprofit organisations including child protection, Charities Governance Code and other relevant regulations.
  • Proven ability in strategic planning, fundraising and organisational growth.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of corporate governance standards and experience working within a Board-led governance structure.
  • Demonstrated excellence in critical thinking and analytic skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion.
  • Strong understanding of grief and its impact on children and families.
