This practical introduction will explore the core principles of the NVR approach, including:
Ethos and Values of NVR
Understanding the philosophy of non-violence, resistance to harmful behaviours, and commitment to relational change.
Parental Presence & Strengthening Relationships
Strategies to re-establish a calm, authoritative presence and rebuild bonds between child and caregiver.
De-escalation & Regulation
Techniques to reduce conflict, improve emotional regulation, and interrupt cycles of aggression or control.
Building a Parent/Carer Support Network
Encouraging community, shared responsibility, and external support systems.
Self-Care for Parents and Carers
Recognising the emotional toll on caregivers and prioritising sustainable wellbeing.
