Survey in the context of a European Commission study on local consumer advice

Posted on 3 Feb 2022

You are invited to take part in a study conducted for the European Commission titled “Study to identify initiatives that provide local advice to consumers”. The objective of the study is to map initiatives in the 27 EU Member States that provide advice to consumers at local level and identify good practices.

The survey seeks to understand the needs of consumers for local advice and to identify successful local consumer advice initiatives in the EU countries.

To the opposite of “traditional” consumer advice that requires consumers to actively look for it, in this study we are particularly interested in original forms of advice: reaching out to places where consumers are present (e.g. supermarkets) and engaging with them; collaborating with “multiplier” actors (such as family help centres, schools, homes for the elderly etc.); or using local communication channels taking into account local products and providers and using the target groups’ language. It is the intention of the European Union to promote consumer advice initiatives that actively approach consumers (in particular vulnerable consumers) at the local level.

The survey will run until 20 March 2022.
