Statement from Ecclesiastical Ireland on Flooding and Insurance

Paul Collins, Head of Risk Management at Ecclesiastical Ireland said: “Ecclesiastical Insurance Ireland, part of the Benefact Group, is urging organisations and property owners to take proactive steps to protect their people and buildings as heavy rainfall and flooding continue to pose risks in parts of the country.
Flood conditions can escalate quickly, and we encourage customers to follow all safety guidance from Met Éireann, the OPW and local authorities.
As a specialist insurer with extensive expertise in helping customers manage complex property and operational risks, we are reminding organisations of the importance of practical, preventative actions that can reduce the likelihood and impact of flood damage. These include moving valuable items and critical equipment to higher levels, checking flood protection measures, keeping drains and gullies clear where it is safe to do so. For businesses, it is important to remain contingent on emergency plans.
Our risk management team are available to support customers with tailored flood-preparedness advice, and our claims team is on standby to assist anyone affected. We encourage customers to contact us promptly if they have concerns about potential damage or need guidance on safeguarding their property.”
