You may have been watching with concern the ongoing mobilisation of far-right and other reactionary organisations in Ireland. These groups and their actions present a clear and present danger to organisations and individuals working in the areas of human rights, anti-racism, Travellers’ rights, LGBT rights and so on.

To this end, and as part of our work on civic space, ICCL is working with Frontline Defenders and the Far-Right Observatory on a security mapping and training project.

Working with Frontline Defenders, ICCL have developed a short survey which is designed to gather information on the threats that organisations and individual activists face and also areas where they feel they would benefit from security training.

The purpose of the project is twofold;

  • The first aim of the project is to ascertain the nature and scale of threat facing organisations in Ireland in order to develop a bespoke response for the Irish context. This response may take the form of a seminar to assist organisations to develop robust online security, a toolkit for more general safety or another measure. The response will be tailored to the Irish context and will be developed as a response to the survey findings. Organisations and individuals who take part in the survey will be eligible to partake in the activity or event which is delivered in response to the findings.

  • The second aim of the project is to develop a rich seam of data on the nature and extent of threats that face our partner organisations. This data (which will be anonymised) will be shared with our partners in the Far Right Observatory for their further research. The sharing of this data by survey participants is completely voluntary and does not prevent participation in the survey.

If you are willing, we would be extremely grateful if you would be willing to complete the survey by Friday, 22 October.
