Remote Learning: Boundaries, Reflective Practice and Self-Care workshop

Posted on 20 Sep 2022

DATE: 12 October 2022

TIME: 09.30 - 16.30 (CET-1)

Members of The Psychological Society of Ireland and The Addiction Counsellors of Ireland (ACI) can earn Learning Credits/CPD points for participating in this workshop.

This programme is designed to provide an overview of boundaries and the many ways in which they can be encountered and managed. The workshop will also include reflective practice and self-care as the three areas are closely linked. There is a strong emphasis on practical examples of boundary issues with examples of best practice offered throughout the training.

The workshop will build on and expand the existing knowledge within the members of the group in relation to boundaries and enhance confidence in participants in relation to their understanding of boundaries and the ways they are respected and guarded.  Participants will explore why boundaries are important at work, which will include looking at scenarios which the participants create which best reflects the work they do.

The programme includes identifying positive behaviour in relation to our personal boundaries and understanding negative behaviour and how to identify actions that suggest an individual's boundaries are becoming inappropriate. Participants will be made aware of how to raise concerns in a professional manner, and where to seek advice and information about boundary issues as they arise. The workshop will allow space and time for participants to reflect on their own practice and discuss clients that they have had or are currently working with (suitably anonymised) in relation to managing boundaries. Self-care will also be covered in the programme as it is fundamentally linked to our ability to manage our personal and professional boundaries.

This workshop is open to individuals and can also be delivered as in-house training to groups of employees.

Note: Attendees will be expected to have their cameras on during the training. This helps generate engagement and interaction with their trainer and other participants. If special circumstances mean that a participant may have to switch off their camera occasionally please let us know in advance.
