Prophets or Profits in Building Sustainable Futures?

If Language is the First Weapon in Conflict, can it be the First Remedy in its Resolution?

Free Zoom Webinar Thursday, 28 May - 7.00 - 8.30pm.

A couple of thousand years ago you couldn’t even go out for a walk without a Prophet jumping out from behind a bush and asking you if you wanted to know the future.

It is however doubtful if they would be giving you tips on the Assyrian or Egyptian Stock Market.

Nowadays the world is run by people who would far rather make profits than listen to one!

Even the Sage of Omaha possibly doesn’t remember what one prophet said –

“What does it profit a man if he gains the whole world but loses his soul?”

But any great prophet worth his or her salt would say that the pursuit of profits makes relationships unsustainable in the long run.  And if relationships become unsustainable then that inevitably leads to conflicts.

And in all conflicts the first weapon of choice is – language.

For before we act against another we must define and describe them in language both thought and spoken.

Josef Goebbels said that to gain power you must first create an enemy and the enemy of power is truth.

What a guy!

If truth is your enemy, then how can you ever be anyone’s friend?

We even use violent language in trying to get rid of violence.

For example:

We must stamp out violence.  Ouch.

We must fight injustice and inequality. With what?

We must go to war on poverty.  With wealth?

And my own favourite – We must have zero tolerance for intolerance!

In healing terms there is the understanding that what can cure can also inflict and what can inflict can also cure.

The possible proof of that being that Words anagrams to Sword.

And the saying – The pen is mightier than the sword.

This principle is also reflected in the notion of Karma which might at the risk of bottom lining it be stated as – do good to others in order to receive good back.  Or in Biblical terms – do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

If such principles are true, then it would seem that conflict, violence and war are very unadvanced and powerful forms of self-sabotage.

If change is the only constant in the Universe and patience is a virtue, then there has to be virtue in changing our language from certainty to patience in reframing conflict towards resolution and restoration rather than threatening to bomb each other into oblivion.

In this free Webinar we shall explore the prophecy possibilities of language in building sustainable relationships and resolving conflicts, and how for example a simple word like “Sorry” can change not only the past, but also the future, forever.

So don’t believe Elton John when he says Sorry seems to be the hardest word.

It is in fact the softest!

All are welcome and hopefully it will be an interesting and enjoyable process together with some light bulb moments along the way.
