Oral History Made Easy

Posted on 25 May 2026

Oral History Made Easy is a transformational learning and mentorship programme which enables people to move from novice to proficient level of oral history using easy to follow actionable steps. Our communities in Ireland are bursting to the seams with extraordinary stories of everyday life. But unless we systematically record and archive these stories, they will be lost for ever. That’s where oral history comes in.

We would very much like to have many more of Ireland’s not for profit organisations with us this summer so that our community organisations have the necessary skills to lead their own oral history projects at a local level. In recent years, we are privileged to have had several student places on the course sponsored by the Irish Community Archive Network (ICAN)/National Museums Ireland. The course is delivered online in six modules and is open to everyone with no prior qualifications required. Places limited to 20 students per intake to safeguard the student experience with a waiting list if needed. The cost per student is €189 discounted to €159 for colleagues who work in the not for profit sector.

We are running three free pre-enrolment sessions online to enable everyone to come along and find out more about Oral History Made Easy. These sessions will take place on the dates below with bookings on Eventbrite:

  1. Saturday 30th May 2026 2pm
  2. Sunday 31st May 2026 at 6 pm
  3. Saturday 6th June 2026 at 18:00.
