Open Call - 2nd Consumer Advice European Workshop - don't miss it!

Posted on 12 May 2021

Earlier this year the EU Consumer Pro organised a Consumer PRO European workshop on Consumer Advice, and we received such a large amount of interest that we have decided to repeat it to offer more people and organisations the opportunity to take part.

The repeated four-part workshop will take place in June on the mornings of 11, 15, 17 and 18 June. The workshop is free and open to consumer professionals across Europe. Please find below more details about what to expect from the workshop, and how to register to join us. We hope to see you there!

About the workshop

The four-part workshop is designed a space to exchange and network with fellow peers from consumer organisations, ECC’s and national authorities working in the field of consumer advice across Europe.

The workshop will consist of four online sessions planned on the following dates and topics:

  • Friday 11 June, Session 1: Introduction to consumer advice; Approaches across the European consumer movement; Impact of Covid 19 on our work to advise consumers
  • Tuesday 1 June, Session 2: Communication and case management for effective consumer advice
  • Thursday 17 June, Session 3: Guest speakers and peer-to-peer exchange on delivering consumer advice on one of three topics: Sustainability, Debt advice, Energy advice
  • Friday 18 June, Session 4: The future of consumer advice – outreach to different audiences and new tools.

Each session will take place on Zoom, in English, from 9:30 to 12:30 CET.  Participation is free of charge though we do ask that you attend each session.

What to expect?

Attached you will find a summarised agenda of each session which we hope gives a clear idea of what you can expect from attending this workshop. The course will be delivered using a variety of input methods, including numerous guest expert speakers, interactive exercises, and sharing and exploring case studies and real-life examples from across Europe.

Over the course of four sessions, the workshop will allow you to:

  • Share and build an understanding of the different approaches to Consumer Advice across the European consumer movement, and exchange views with fellow advisors about key challenges,
  • Learn and share about different approaches in delivering specialised consumer advice on key areas under the new EU consumer agenda (financial services, energy saving and sustainable lifestyles),
  • Exchange on how to best continue advising consumers based on reflections about the current, medium and long-term impact of Covid-19,
  • Explore new tools for adapting to the future of consumer advice: reaching new audiences, ensuring inclusivity, and ensuring effective case management and documentation,
  • Network and be inspired by others work and approaches.

How to apply?

The training is open to consumer professionals active in the field of consumer advice from Consumer Organisations, National Authorities and European Consumer Centres (ECC’s), and is aimed primarily at those of you communicating and working with consumers on a daily basis. We kindly ask you to select staff member(s) in your organisations who, as a priority, would benefit from the training. To apply, please take a few minutes to complete this application form by Friday  21st May.

As places are limited, a selection process will take place to assure a balance between profiles, gender, seniority and geography. Your application letter will remain a key determinant in this process.

You will receive an email informing you of your selection in the course, at the latest by Wednesday 26 May.
