Love Hurts but Pain Hurts Even More! Who Knew?
Finding Pathways of Possibility from Pain to Equanimity in Building Sustainable Relationships and Resolving Conflict.
Free Zoom Webinar Tuesday, 25 November - 7.00 - 8.30pm.
Why does pain exist?
You would think that after millions of years of evolution that someone or something would have figured out a way by now of enabling us to live our lives constructively, positively, and happily without the interference of this nuisance called pain.
What on earth is the evolutionary benefit of experiencing something that makes you feel miserable, isolated, and lesser.
And why are there so many different types of pain too?
Physical pain is bad enough but what about emotional, psychological, societal, cultural, and even spiritual pain too?
We all experience pain in multiple ways and multiple times to various degrees throughout our lives and no one is immune from its effects. It is just as well that we aren’t.
Because pain exists for a reason and purpose within our individual and collective lives as a species for it enables us to know that things are out of balance, offset and not working in the way that they should be.
It is said that birds and animals migrate because they feel a pain that informs them that they must migrate to a fresh and new opportunity because they can’t stay where they are.
Perhaps this is a metaphor for us in our relationships with ourselves and each other?
Pain is not good or bad in and of itself (though obviously no one likes it).
It is in fact information that tells us that we need to listen to it and change, migrate, or transform that relationship, whatever it is, to a healthier one.
One where we can find equanimity, healing, remedy, peace, and acceptance.
This requires both transformational thinking and transformational action.
For the Template of dealing with pain in the world mostly is one of attacking the pain or even worse attacking the person who you perceive to be causing your pain with even more pain than they attacked you with!
Using weapons to try and get rid of pain isn’t the brightest idea ever that humans have come up with!
The Hopi Native Americans have a great word or more accurately concept to describe this state of affairs we call pain and its causes:
Koyaanisqatsi – which means “life out of balance” caused by a state of disconnection, dislocation, and disassociation.
And their remedy is one of reconnection, inclusion, and reintegration.
That could work!
In this free Zoom Webinar we shall be looking at Pain as a signpost towards Equanimity and finding out what exactly Equanimity is and how to find, attract and cause it personally and collectively towards building healthy and sustainable futures.
All are welcome and hopefully it will be an interesting and enjoyable process together with some light bulb moments along the way.
