Irish Cancer Society Summer Studentships 2026

Posted on 27 Jan 2026

The Irish Cancer Society is now accepting applications for the Summer Studentships Awards 2026. The aim of the Summer Studentships is to offer excellent undergraduate students the opportunity to conduct a cancer research project and to work with researchers in high-quality research environments.

This programme will help students gain essential research experience at an early stage in their career path.

In total, there are eight summer studentship awards available. Students may apply to conduct either Translational Research or Survivorship Research. Applicants are only eligible to apply for one type of studentship award, which is determined based on their proposed field of research.

Funding and Duration

The total amount available is €3,250 to support the student for a maximum period of eight weeks, starting no earlier than 1st June. Proposed projects that are less than eight weeks in duration will be paid pro-rata. It is highly encouraged that the project ends prior to the start of the academic year 2026-2027. Payment to the student throughout the project will be made through the host institution.
