Invitation to Traveller and Heritage Cultural Day – 22 October, Carrick-on-Shannon market place.
The Leitrim Travellers project and Heritage Cultural Day, taking place on Tuesday, 22nd October in Carrick-on-Shannon starting at 12pm, in conjunction with the Leitrim Development Company.
This special event aims to celebrate Traveller culture and heritage, while also highlighting the importance of health and wellbeing within the community. The day will bring together Travellers, health service providers, and community members to connect, share, and learn from one another.
Key highlights of the day include:
- Attendance from Traveller representatives and health service providers
- A Traveller Flag stand, promoting pride and visibility
- Mental health supports and resources available on-site
- Food and refreshments for all attendees
- A traditional Traveller wagon on display – honouring heritage while delivering key messages about health and wellbeing
- This event is not only a celebration of culture but also a chance to build stronger partnerships between the Traveller community and services that support them.
