Join us in celebrating Care Day 2026 on Friday, 20th February!🫶
Care Day is a day to celebrate the positive experiences and contributions of children and young people with experience of the care system in Ireland. Each year EPIC Care Community and Youth Council members develop a Care Day theme, and for their 2026 celebration they have chosen:
The Future Starts With Us
Care-experienced young people are shaping Ireland’s future. They are leaders, creators, innovators, and changemakers, bringing ideas, energy, and vision to their communities and beyond. Their voices and talents are vital to building a more inclusive Ireland.
Care Day 2026 is a moment to celebrate the Care Community, as well as a call to action - for government, communities, and society as a whole - to better support care-experienced young people as they transition to adulthood. Together, we can ensure their potential is met with opportunity.
Get Involved!
There are lots of ways you can get involved:
1. Messages of Care 💌
Write a short message of support, encouragement, or pride for care-experienced children and young people.
- You can submit a message of care individually online using this form.
- Messages can be also written or drawn; artwork can be photographed or scanned and emailed to communications@epiconline.ie
- Messages appear as digital postcards on EPIC’s Message Wall and may be shared more widely
2. Mark Care Day where you are 🎨
Celebrate your way!
- Download one of our posters (see attached) and display it in your space
- Decorate your space or set up a message-writing table
- Create art around “The Future Starts With Us”
- Take a moment to reflect on how your space supports young people in care
3. Online and Social Media 🌐
Show your support online by sharing posts to celebrate Care Day, engaging with Care Day content and using the hashtag #CareDay26.
