International Women's Day 2026 - How The Wheel Members are Celebrating

Many of our members will be marking International Women’s Day (this coming Sunday, 8 March) with special events and celebrations. We wanted to take the opportunity again to highlight some of the fantastic events that our members have shared with us.
The UN 2026 International Women’s Day theme is “Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls”, calling loudly for action to break down barriers to equal justice. These include discriminatory laws, weak legal protections, and harmful social norms that undermine the rights of women and girls. Find out more here.
We want to share the incredible work being done by women in the sector and highlight events happening around the country.
Please also remember to tag The Wheel and The Leadership Academy on LinkedIn so that we can share your events.

La Leche League of Ireland 60th Anniversary Conference hosted by La Leche League of Ireland in Crowne Plaza Hotel Blanchardstown Dublin 15 on 6-8 March 2026.
We are thrilled this year to welcome back Dr. Nils Bergman to Irish shores. He is a consulting Public Health Physician, with specific expertise and interest in maternal and neonatal health care. We are also very lucky to have Jill Bergman joining us also. Jill trains nursing staff and hospitals in the practicalities of skin-to-skin contact, and developmental care. She has a passion for supporting mothers in labour as a doula and as a kangaroula advocating for the needs of newborns, empowering mums and babies with early bonding and breastfeeding.
We are also delighted to have Nancy Mohrbacher with us too. Nancy is an official La Leche League Leader, IBCLC, FILCA, international speaker and author of many books on breastfeeding, including the well-known Breastfeeding Answers, now in its second edition. Dr Eithne Ni Longphuirt, a Senior Clinical Psychologist, working in a Lifespan Primary Care post in the Health Service Executive in Dublin will also be joining us to speak about screen time and its impact across the family system. We will have many other speakers and workshops throughout the weekend, so it will be packed with something for everyone!

Hidden in Plain Sight: ADHD in Women and the Toll it Takes hosted by ADHD Ireland online on Thursday 5 March, 7-8pm
We will explore how ADHD in women is commonly hidden behind achievement, misattributed to personality or mental health problems, and minimised across families, workplaces, and healthcare settings.
The talk aims to offer clarity and validation, while reframing ADHD in women as neither a flaw nor a trend, but a lived reality that deserves recognition, understanding and compassion.
