CELT hosts week long Programme of Climate Action & Permaculture Events, 16-24 Aug
CELT invites everyone to join them for an inspiring week on 16 to 24 August at the Slieve Aughty Centre, Loughrea, Co. Galway to learn about climate action and innovative permaculture solutions, including a 2 day activity camp for children & young people.
The week of events offers the opportunity of reconnecting to the natural world and our natural and cultural heritage, by relearning sustainable ways of living through permaculture principles and practices, in an inspiring week of nature based, community-centered activities.
'Permaculture offers innovative and inspiring solutions in both mitigating and adapting to climate change, by building community, restoring biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.
Through education and building local community solutions - integrating local heritage and knowledge of diverse plant and animal systems, it provides nature-friendly, regenerative agricultural practices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions, sequester carbon, supports biodiversity, and builds resilience to extreme weather events.
Permaculture also promotes natural building, renewable energy, and reducing reliance on fossil fuels, which can contribute to a more sustainable and climate-resilient future.
By integrating permaculture principles and practices into everyday life, permaculture offers a holistic approach to address the challenges of climate change, creating more sustainable and resilient landscapes and communities.
