What can ILMI learn from other equality campaigns?
ILMI are delighted to offer a free workshop to disabled activists on how to build groups online. The training will be delivered by Aileen O’Carroll and David Landy and is based on the experiences of groups in the Repeal campaign. The learning is vital for ILMI as they are from the vantage point of small, democratically-run grassroots organisations.
The training will focus how to build groups, get new members involved, retain members and deal with burnout. It talks about supporting members and dealing with the stresses of campaign work and meetings. It also discusses the role of values, strategies and organisational structures in building groups.
Aileen O'Carroll and David Landy are both sociologists, Aileen works at Maynooth University and David at Trinity College Dublin. Together they completed a research project called 'Sharing Best Practices in how Civil Society Organisations use the Internet in Organising and Building for Socio-Economic Rights and Trust'. This project was funded by the Irish Research Council (IRC) and sponsored by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission (IHREC).
