Beyond the Margins: Sexual Violence, Disability and Other Compounding Barriers, 22 June

Posted on 11 Jun 2026

Rape Crisis Ireland (RCI) invites you to explore Beyond the Margins: Sexual Violence, Disability and Other Compounding Barriers on 22 June 2026 at 10am.

This event, which will include Minister for Justice Jim O'Callaghan launching our latest report, Learning from Survivors of Rape and Sexual Violence – Rape Crisis Statistics 2025, will focus on the experiences of survivors who face compounding barriers, especially people with disabilities.

When survivors hold protected characteristics - including disability, legal status, sexual orientation, gender, religion, or ethnicity - they often face compounding barriers that make disclosure, reporting, and accessing support significantly more difficult. Keynote speakers will be Dr Rosaleen McDonagh and Dr Lucy Michael.
