Apple Day Harvest festival 2025

Join the Organic Centre for their Apple Day-Harvest Festival on Sunday September 28th from 12 -4pm in this the 30th year anniversary of the centre being set up. The harvest is back with all the seasonal sights and smells that make up the famous and free event in what is a bumper harvest nationally. There will be talks and tours from the apple experts like Phil Wheal and will be joined by grape expert Andrew Watson, for a workshop in the tunnels. Botanist Maria Cullen will talk about the threat to apple trees from fireblight, while wonderful farming for nature ambassador Tommy Earley will chat about one of his inspirational projects, 'Garden in a box'.
Step back in time with craft demos, basket weaving and hand spinning, alongside our centre piece of apple pressing. Meet the returning visiting alpacas, Rocky, Diamond and Tyson!
Browse the teeming array of local stalls of sustainable crafts and food indoors and outdoors around the building. There will be plenty for the family to enjoy including heritage games from ‘Heritage Crafts Alive’ and Fiona and Hazel from Green Shoots joined by the wonderful Seb and Thelma will be hosting a children's arts and crafts section. The centre is delighted this year to be joined by the incredible Jim Ledwith, renown gaeilgeoir and folklorist, part of the Mummers Foundation, for a display and discussion.
The Grass Roof cafe will be open on the day, which will include some apple delights on the menu, so why not treat yourself on your day out!
