Participate in Survey for Green Finance for Irish Social Enterprises
The Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht is seeking your support by completing this 15-minute survey on Green Finance for Irish Social Enterprises.
This is the first comprehensive research examining how all Irish social enterprises finance environmental and climate activities. Whether you're scaling green initiatives or prioritising other social missions, your perspective matters.
Take the survey.
The Problem: Irish social enterprises often face barriers accessing green finance that traditional businesses do not, despite delivering strong environmental and social outcomes. Many social enterprises report that lenders and investors struggle to understand their model and impact.
The Opportunity: For the first time, we're gathering evidence on what stops social enterprises from accessing green finance, which barriers are fixable vs structural, and which policies would help you. This evidence aims to inform future government funding mechanisms over the next 5-10 years. Your participation will shape future policy discussions.
The survey takes 15 minutes and is completely confidential. It covers your environmental and climate activities (or why you’ve chosen not to pursue them), financing approaches, barriers to green finance access, policy supports needed, and how you balance mission with financial sustainability.
By completing the survey, you will:
- Inform future green finance policy and support mechanisms
- Strengthen sector advocacy and evidence-based funding discussions
- Provide participating organisations with benchmarking insights
- Contribute to international research on social enterprise finance
- Support Ireland’s climate and sustainability transition
