Three Funds Open from the Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum

The Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum invites applications for the three following grant opportunities, all of which must close to applications on Thursday, 30 April.

Mid-West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum: Small Grants

The Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum invites applications for once-off Small Grant funding from Community, Cultural, and Voluntary groups that are not eligible for funding from another source. Projects must be based in the Mid-West area (Clare, Limerick City & County and North Tipperary). Applications for grants (min. €500 & max. €2,000) should be directly relevant to the MWRDAF as per the National Drugs Strategy.

The funding can be used for the following types of programmes or activities which compliment the aims of the Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum:

  • Developing and delivery of drug & alcohol programmes to adults &/ or young people (includes developing drug & alcohol policies for an organisation)
  • Local research on drug & alcohol issues
  • Community drug initiatives
  • Family Support Initiatives dealing with substance related issues.

Mid-West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum: Education, Prevention & Training Bursary

The Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum has available to it, a one-off funding pool for groups/organisations towards the costs of running courses (certified and non-certified) related to alcohol and/or drugs issues. The MWRDAF Education Bursary Fund 2026 is available to assist Community Groups, Voluntary & Statutory Organisations, Third level Colleges or Universities funding towards the costs of running training courses related to alcohol and/or drugs issues in the Mid-West for 2026. The MWRDAF covers the counties of Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary.

This bursary is available exclusively to agencies, organisations, and groups that are based in the Mid-West and/or core delivery service is located within Counties Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary.

All funded initiatives must be delivered within the Mid-West region and must demonstrate a clear, direct, and primary benefit to Mid-West communities and services. Applications from agencies not operating within the Mid-West, or proposals that do not demonstrate delivery and impact within the Mid-West, are ineligible and will not be considered for funding.

Mid-West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum: Treatment & Rehabilitation Funding Pool

The Mid-West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum (MWRDAF) has available to it a one-off funding pool for treatment initiatives and rehabilitation initiatives in the Midwest Region (Clare, Limerick and North Tipperary).

The total amount available in the fund is just less than €30,000. Applications will be accepted up to a maximum of € 10,000.

Applications will be assessed on the following criteria: Agencies applying for this funding pool must have a track record in the area and have a Service Level Agreement or Grant Aid Agreement with the HSE. The initiatives must fit with the National Drugs Strategy ‘Reducing Harm, Supporting Recovery – A health-led response to drug & alcohol use in Ireland 2017 – 2025’ and those of the Mid West Regional Drugs & Alcohol Forum (see www.mwrdtf.ie), meeting identified needs/ gaps. The objectives of the initiative and how it will be achieved must be clearly stated. Funding under this pool must be spent by 31 Dec 2026. Funding cannot be applied retrospectively.
