Public Community Safety Survey Opens to inform the Development of the first National Strategy
The National Office for Community Safety is inviting the public to contribute to the development of the new National Strategy by taking part in a National Community Safety Survey which is open until 27 February 2026.
About this survey
Ireland’s first National Strategy for Improving Community Safety is being developed as part of the Policing, Security and Community Safety Act 2024.
The National Strategy for Improving Community Safety aims to respond to the needs and concerns of communities and help public services and communities work together in a joined-up way to make communities safer.
This survey is to support the public to provide their views on community safety to inform the development of the strategy. This survey is open to anyone living in the Republic of Ireland.
Why should you complete this survey?
By completing this survey, we can learn what makes you feel safe or unsafe. This then helps when we are creating public policy about community safety.
Public policy is what our government, local authorities and other public bodies do about problems or issues that affect individuals, communities and the country as a whole.
The National Strategy for Improving Community Safety will be governmental policy. Because of this we want to hear from as many people as possible.
Will my answers be anonymous?
Yes, your answers are anonymous. This means we will not know who you are. Please do not include your personal information in your answers to make sure your identity is kept safe.
Answers will be grouped together in a report. This will help to make sure we keep your responses anonymous.
