Open Call - Civil Society in Ireland: North and South: Rooting Active Democracy
St Stephen’s Green Trust (SSGT) invites expressions of interest for a major grant to lead Civil Society in Ireland: North and South: Rooting Active Democracy, an island-wide action-research programme designed to strengthen shared values, deepen solidarity, and build progressive, collective power across the island.
Funding available: €90,000 / £78,000
Deadline for Expressions of Interest: 18:00, 14 November 2025
In response to current challenges and growing threats to democracy, SSGT believes that there is an urgent need to create spaces for reflection, collaboration, and capacity-building across civil society. The Trust is seeking an experienced and well-networked organisation to act as a grant partner which has the expertise, relationships, and vision to:
- Work collaboratively with civil society stakeholders;
- Foster value-led solidarity and collective learning;
- Strengthen cross-sector connections; and
- Drive innovation in how we engage communities in democratic action.
A single grant of €90,000 / £78,000 will be awarded to the organisation that best demonstrates its capacity to deliver on these aims.
Full details of the programme, including objectives and eligibility criteria, are available here: Criteria and Guidelines for Applicants.
Potential applicants are strongly encouraged to reach out to SSGT before submitting an Expression of Interest. To discuss your organisation’s eligibility or proposal, please contact: Sara Stokes, Grants and Development Manager: sara@ssgt.ie.
