Youth Work Manager

Limerick Youth Service is recruiting for a Youth Work Manager.

Skill / Experience
  • A recognised qualification at Level 7 or higher in Youth Work, Community Work, Social Care, or a related discipline
  • Significant experience (minimum 5 years) in a youth work or community work setting, including management or senior leadership experience
  • A strong understanding of the Irish youth work landscape, including relevant legislation, policy and funding environments
  • Proven experience in staff management, supervision and team development
  • Excellent knowledge of safeguarding and child protection including Children First National Guidance
  • Experience in programme planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting
  • Strong leadership, communication and relationship‑management skills
  • Ability to contribute strategically at Senior Management Team level
  • Commitment to equality, inclusion and youth‑led practice

Leadership

  • Lead & Support Line Managers and Youth Workers in the planning, implementation and evaluation of youth work programmes in line with the LYS strategic plan and National Policy in Youthwork.
  • Translate organisational strategy into effective operational plans with measurable outcomes.
  • Contribute to organisational policy development and service innovation.
  • Act as first point of contact for staff issues as they arise in line with organisational policy. 
  • Set clear goals for staff and create a team environment with open communication.
  • Provide regular support and supervision to Line Managers and Youth Work Staff
  • Support Line Managers with Performance Management and staffing. 

Communication & Collaborative Working 

  • Liaise with and report to funders and other key partners, representing young people, the service and the organisation externally.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders including youth organisations, schools, statutory services etc. 
  • To work closely with the Limerick Youth Service CEO and Management Team in the development and sustainability of services in key areas and the wider organisation.

Administration & Finance

  • Prepare budgets with finance staff and work within resources, reporting internally and externally as required.
  • Prepare funding proposals, grant applications and tender proposals in addition to writing and progress reports. 
  • Oversee programme budgets and ensure effective use of resources.
  • Prepare high-quality reports for funders, CEO and the Board of Limerick Youth Service

Management

  • Oversee and co-ordinate the planning, delivery and monitoring of youthwork plans, programmes and activities. 
  • Ensure that young people participate in the planning, delivery, monitoring and evaluation of services.
  • Support the provision of learning and development opportunities for youth work staff.
  • Ensure child protection procedures are followed and that the safeguarding of young people is paramount.
  • Line manage Youth Workers, Project Coordinators and support staff.
  • Provide reflective supervision, performance management and professional development support to staff.

Quality 

  • NQSF: To act as the coordinator and lead contact for the National Quality Standards Framework in youth work

Training & Development 

  • Work in conjunction with HR Manager to ensure any training needs for staff are addressed and approved.
  • Participate in Supervision with CEO

Other

  • To undertake any other duties as required from time to time. 
  • To stay informed on legislation, local and national issues, and best practice in youth work
