Transition Training Programme Instructor

Festina Lente is recruiting for a Transition Training Programme Instructor.

Job Title: Transition Training Programme [TTP] Instructor – Day Service

Contract Type: Specific Purpose Contract-Maternity Cover. Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 4.30pm

Position Location: The primary base for the position will be in Bray, Co. Wicklow.

Reporting to: Transition Training Programme [TTP] Team Leader

Primary Purpose of this Role:

Programme Facilitation:

  • To deliver relevant programmes/classes, as per Programme Descriptor, QQI Quality Assurance Guidelines and HSE New Directions, while accounting for the learning needs and preferences of the service members within the learner group,
  • Responsible for the contribution to and adherence to weekly programme timetables,
  • To develop and write course material including lesson plans, worksheets and to develop or source teaching resources, with consideration to the resources available in the wider community,
  • To contribute to the preparation of activities and records necessary for QQI, HSE New Directions and/or other accreditation bodies.

Service Member Support

  • To work as a keyworker and develop individual person-centred plans that support service members to set and achieve personal goals.
  • To work in conjunction with the TTP Team Leader to design, implement and review behaviour support plans for service members where appropriate
  • Liaison person for service member family/ or support persons
  • To support Service Members in experiencing activities as part of the Transition Training Programme, both onsite and offsite,
  • To accompany service members on their midweek break once per year.

Programme Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Contribute to the ongoing programme monitoring and evaluation as well as supporting its continuous improvement,
  • Collect data to measure outcomes, prepare reports as requested,
  • Adhere to quality assurance systems and procedures,
  • Participate in committees as guided by Vocational Training and Day Services Manager / Team Leader (TTP).
  • Ensure all programme files are maintained to a high standard and in compliance with HSE and data protection regulatory requirements

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Continually build strong relationships with Service members, families, and caregivers, ensuring clear communication and satisfaction.
  • Partner with referral sources, community organisations, and healthcare providers to enhance service offerings and continuity of care.

Training and Development

  • Carry out an identification of learner needs for assigned Service Member as part of their Person-Centred plan.
  • To keep informed about current issues affecting people with intellectual disabilities and to integrate evidenced based knowledge into daily practice
  • Participate in weekly staff and planning meetings to ensure effective communication, quality assurance of service delivery and continuous improvement of overall services programme.

Health & Safety

  • Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter which may be detrimental to service members’ care or wellbeing,
  • Complete incident reporting and near miss events,
  • Complete and review risk assessments, including the development of a positive risk management plan for service members,
  • Adhere to all HSE policies and procedures and to all relevant Health & Safety legislation.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both individually and across a team setting,
  • Strong ability to empower individuals, promoting independence and person-centred decision-making,
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse groups,
  • Enjoys the outdoor environment and be physically able and fit for the strenuous nature of the post.

Education & Experience

Desired: an appropriate third level qualification in a related field e.g. health and social services, disability management, allied health and social care, special education and/or specialist training etc. Proven experience in the development of behaviour support plans.

Minimum: an appropriate Level 6 qualification in related field of health and social services,

Proven experience of working in disability services, proven experience designing, facilitating and implementing Person Centred Plans in line with New Directions Policy,

Full and clean Irish driving licence.

Language: Fluent English
