Staff Psychotherapist including Intake & Assessment

Job Title: Staff Psychotherapist including Intake & Assessment

Hours: Part-time, 3 days per week (Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays)

Salary: €37,440 per annum

Reporting directly to the Clinical Services Director the role incorporates

- working as a Staff Therapist to provide professional and compassionate therapeutic support to clients who have been bereaved by a neo-natal loss, the death of their baby, child or young person up to the age of 18

- undertaking Intake & Assessment for families who are referred to FirstLight

- providing initial Crisis Intervention support for families who are referred to FirstLight

- maintaining a client case load of maximum 10 clients

  • Exercise clinical judgement and work autonomously within professional guidelines and FirstLight policies, procedures, and practice
  • Hold and maintain an agreed clinical caseload
  • Work from a Humanistic and Integrative model of therapeutic care 
  • Work as a member of a small team to ensure waiting lists times and numbers are kept within target 
  • Liaise and consult with other professionals in supporting the client as required
  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of practice in line with professional codes of conduct and FirstLight policies and procedures
  • Attend external clinical supervision (paid by FirstLight) 
  • Participate in case management, peer support and team meetings 
  • Role model and promote the maintenance of professional and personal boundaries within all services
  • Follow Adult and Child Protection and Safeguarding legislation and policies in all FirstLight work 
  • Participate in training as required and keep up to date with developments in the sector
  • Undertake other duties as required

 

Essential Education, Experience & Skills Required 

  • A recognised qualification at Level 8on the NQAI framework in Counselling / Psychotherapy. A recognised Level 7 in Counselling /Psychotherapy obtained pre-2018 with accreditation will be accepted
  • Be a fully accredited Psychotherapist with IAHIP, IACP or other comparable accrediting body recognised in Ireland
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to reflect on practice in order to facilitate personal learning, professional development and service improvement
  • Demonstrate great warmth, compassion and the ability to empathise empathy already asked for
  • Ability to work co-operatively as part of a team
  • Ability to foster good working relationships with external agencies and organisations
  • Awareness of Children First Act 2015, and obligations

Desirable

  • Experience working with traumatic bereavement, infant loss, child loss, birth trauma
  • Experience of crisis intervention support
  • Experience of intake & assessment work 
  • Experience with databases an advantage (MindaClient CRM)
