We are seeking a part-time on-site support staff member to assist with the delivery of our conversational English programme at Citywest Transit Hub.
This role supports a volunteer-led, learner-focused programme working with adults seeking international protection. It is a practical, people-facing role, with a strong emphasis on creating a welcoming, well-organised and supportive learning environment.
About Fáilte Isteach
Fáilte Isteach is a national programme of Third Age, supporting migrants and refugees to build confidence in conversational English through informal, community-based learning. The programme is volunteer-led and focused on everyday communication, social connection and inclusion.
This is a practical, people-focused role that plays an important part in supporting connection, confidence and everyday communication for learners.
Key Details
- Hours: 8 hours per week
- Schedule: Tuesday & Wednesday mornings (9.30am–1.30pm)
- Duration: 12-month contract (1 May 2026 – 10 April 2027, aligned with programme delivery of 45 weeks + 2 weeks training and set up in early May. Full details of timeline listed below.)
- Location: Citywest Transit Hub (on-site)
- Fee: €13,800 (contract)
- Contract Type: Independent contractor (self-employed)
- Expenses: This fee is inclusive. Travel and subsistence are not covered.
- Reporting to: Fáilte Isteach Project Lead
- Support: The role is supported by the Fáilte Isteach staff team
Note: This is a contract for services. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own tax, PRSI and statutory obligations.
Role Overview
This role provides on-site support for programme delivery across two mornings per week. You will play a key role in welcoming learners, supporting registration, and ensuring classes run smoothly and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Support learner registration and sign-in, including term-based enrolment
- Act as a first point of contact for learners on-site
- Support the smooth running of classes, including room setup and coordination
- Provide on-site supervision during class delivery
- Assist with informal learner grouping (with guidance)
- Support a welcoming, inclusive and respectful environment
- Liaise with volunteers and Fáilte Isteach Citywest Project Lead
- Support attendance tracking and basic record-keeping
- Be aware of and support safeguarding and referral processes (training provided)
- Provide end-of-term reports to Citywest Project Lead periodically (templates provided)
Person Specification
We are looking for someone who:
- Is reliable, organised and comfortable working independently on-site
- Has strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Is warm, approachable and culturally sensitive
- Can manage a busy, people-facing environment calmly
- Has experience in community, education or support settings (desirable)
- Is comfortable working in a diverse and dynamic environment
