Manager

The Manager will establish, lead, and ensure the effective and efficient management of the service,in line with the mission, vision, and values of Good Shepherd

Baile an Aoire, part of Good Shepherd Cork (GSC) provides long-term supported housing to women who are vulnerable, offering a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment where residents can rebuild stability, independence, and wellbeing.         

We work from a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, grounded in respect, dignity, and choice.  We are now recruiting for an experienced Manager who will be responsible for the delivery and development of this service, aimed at providing a welcoming, compassionate, and professional service to all residents. 

This Full-Time, Permanent position will involve working 39 hours per week. Some flexibility will be required around working hours and some out of hours on-call will be required. Applications could be considered from candidates available on a part-time (30+ hours) basis.

The Manager will establish, lead, and ensure the effective and efficient management of the service, in line with the mission, vision, and values of Good Shepherd Cork. 

You will provide strategic leadership and management to the staff team, ensuring the ongoing development and enhancement of the service to meet the needs of residents. The role also contributes to the wider strategic development of Good Shepherd Cork through active participation in the organisation’s management team. 

Specific Responsibilities:

General

  • Provide a quality service that optimises continuity of care for residents
  • Ensure all residents have an appropriate up to date care plan
  • Manage all service resources effectively within allocated budgets
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and legal requirements
  • Oversee hygiene, maintenance and Health & Safety requirements of the service, ensuring premises and grounds are kept safe, clean and well maintained
  • Ensure all documentation and records are managed professionally and in compliance with Freedom of Information Act and Data Protection legislation
  • Ensure residents’ medication is managed safely
  • Liaise with medical, primary care, mental health, and therapeutic services as required
  • Work collaboratively with managers of other Good Shepherd Cork services to ensure a seamless, integrated service
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational and strategic plans.
  • Undertake other duties appropriate to the role as assigned

Human Resources

  • Ensure all staff have access to regular one to one supervision  and performance appraisal
  • Oversee an effective performance management and development framework
  • Identify training needs and facilitate relevant staff development opportunities
  • Manage recruitment and induction of staff as required
  • Recruit and support volunteers to enhance service delivery
  • Organise shift rosters to ensure efficient staffing  within budgetary constraints
  • Maintain accurate records of staff contracts, annual leave and other absences in line with policies and procedures

Funders & Regulation

  • Manage effective working relationships funders and referral agencies
  • Ensure accurate and complete record keeping for statutory, regulatory and funding purposes
  • Ensure kitchen and catering arrangements comply with Environmental Health Authority regulations

Key Requirements and attributes:

  • A recognised professional qualification in Social Care or an appropriate equivalent
  • A minimum of seven years post qualification experience
  • Senior management or leadership experience ideally within the community & voluntary or public sectors
  • Strategic thinking and ability to contribute to strategic planning and development of the service and the wider Good Shepherd Cork
  • Excellent judgement, interpersonal, decision-making and teamworking skills
  • A professional, caring and empathetic approach to working with women who are marginalised
  • Strong understanding of and commitment to trauma informed care
  • Strong IT  and administrative skills
  • Full clean driving licence is essential
  • Commitment to the vision, mission and values of Good Shepherd Cork.
  • Experience working in residential care or homelessness service
  • Experience managing women-only or specialist support services
