At Saoirse Domestic Violence Service we're looking for a Housekeeper to join our team.
Purpose of the Role
The Housekeeper plays a vital role in maintaining safe, clean, and calm environments across refuge accommodation and office spaces. The role contributes directly to the wellbeing, dignity, and safety of women and children, ensuring spaces are hygienic, welcoming, and supportive of recovery from trauma. The Housekeeper works with discretion, respects confidentiality, and upholds the organisation’s safeguarding and security standards at all times.

Employee Benefits
- Pension: The company contributes 7% of an employee’s annual salary into the employee’s Pension following completion of the probation period.

Key Responsibilities
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across accommodation units, communal areas, offices, playrooms, and external spaces.
- Deep clean and prepare vacated units for new residents, including linen changeover, restocking essential items, and safe disposal of waste.
- Monitor and report maintenance issues, hazards, or repair needs, ensuring all areas remain safe, secure, and compliant with fire and safety procedures.
- Follow infection prevention and control guidelines, including appropriate use of PPE and enhanced cleaning during periods of illness or public health concern.
- Support a trauma-informed and respectful environment by maintaining residents’ privacy, following access protocols, and upholding professional boundaries.
- Monitor and manage stock of cleaning supplies, linen, toiletries, and essential items, keeping storage areas organised and notifying management of shortages.
- Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming shared and outdoor spaces across all sites.
Complete cleaning records, schedules, and handovers, and adhere to organisational policies on confidentiality, safeguarding, health and safety, and refuge security.

About you
Essential
- Previous professional cleaning or housekeeping experience.
- Strong understanding of hygiene and infection control standards.
- Ability to work independently with good attention to detail.
- Reliable, trustworthy, and able to handle sensitive environments with discretion.
- Good communication skills and ability to liaise effectively with staff.
- Commitment to safeguarding and maintaining confidentiality.
Desirable
- Experience working within residential, community, or support service settings.
- Awareness of trauma-informed practice.
- Manual handling and health & safety training.
