Background
Helium, formerly Helium Arts, is a national charity which supports children and young people aged 6-16 living with lifelong physical health conditions. Founded in 2010, the charity provides free creative workshops in hospitals, clinics, community settings and online, allowing young people to explore their creativity, build confidence and make friends. Workshops are led by professional artists and supported by volunteers, creating a safe and inclusive environment for participants. Helium aims to improve the wellbeing of children and young people by connecting them with creative opportunities and reducing the impact of their health conditions.
The Role
To support its expansion of services, the charity is seeking an ambitious, experienced and highly organised leader to deliver its strategic goals and manage its activities. This is a newly created senior management position, part of the leadership team and reporting directly to the CEO. The Head of Programme will provide strategic vision and development plans that generate programme growth whilst managing a committed programme team and the Helium programme of activity in hospitals, communities and online.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced manager, with the ability to think strategically, develop detailed projects and programmes, evidence impact and scale up services. You’ll also be confident in leading teams, building relationships and adept at sourcing funds and managing budgets. Ideally you will have worked at senior level within a non-profit setting, but the role could also suit someone who brings charity management experience and is ready to step up to this level or who has worked in other sectors, bringing transferable skills. Above all, you will be aligned with Helium’s mission and passionate about art as a catalyst to improve children’s wellbeing.
If you’re a strategic leader with strong operational and analytical expertise including team management, stakeholder engagement, business development and financial acumen, we’d love to hear from you.
