Dublin Youth Theatre (DYT) are looking for a part-time General Manager to lead the organisation and implement our year-round programme of activities.
DYT is the country’s longest established youth theatres, providing a safe and welcoming place where members can meet other young people from all parts of Dublin in a fun, artistic and social environment. For almost 50 years, we have helped to shape the artistic, cultural, and personal lives of our members. Central to this success is the part played by our dedicated team, who endeavour to provide a positive, rewarding and memorable experience for members through their dedication, expertise and enthusiasm.
We are looking for someone with a track-record in the arts or youth work, who has a passion for supporting young people to flourish in a creative and supportive environment.

Responsible for: Financial and operational management of Dublin Youth Theatre
Reporting to: Board of Dublin Youth Theatre
Job Description
Implement Dublin Youth Theatre’s Programme of activities.
The General Manager works closely with the Artistic Director and Programme Coordinator to deliver and implement a yearly programme of activities which includes, but is not limited to; weekly Saturday workshops, the Members One Act Festival, the Debut One Act Festival, an annual large scale production, an annual residential workshop weekend, international exchanges, visits to professional and youth theatre productions and managing the annual membership recruitment process.
Financial Management
- Overall responsibility for the financial management of Dublin Youth Theatre
- Preparing and managing annual and production budgets, in collaboration with Artistic Director
- Processing payments and expenses of Dublin Youth Theatre
Income Generation
- Preparing and writing funding applications in collaboration with artistic director Maintaining relationships with funders and actively seek new opportunities for sponsorship, funding and fundraising, supported by the Board
- Oversight of Fundraising Events
Administration
- Overall responsibility for operations and administration of Dublin Youth Theatre
- Act as the main point of contact for company members, and alumni members.
- Supervising the part-time Programme and Communications Manager
- Responsibility for responding to general enquiries will be shared with Programme Coordinator
Productions and Programming
- Securing and liaising with venues for productions
- Oversight of stage management of one act festivals
Governance
- Ensuring compliance with the Charities Regulator’s Governance Code
- Acts as Data Protection contact person and ensure compliance with GDPR
Child Protection
- Ensures that all matters in relation to child protection are kept up to date
- Functions as a Welfare Officer during DYT Activities
Marketing & Communications
- Collaborating on Marketing and Communications with the Programme Coordinator, including:
- Maintaining the DYT website
- Maintaining up to date audience and media databases
- Maintain relationships with the press & media
Building Management & Health & Safety
- Managing and maintaining lease agreements and relationships with landlord, city council and service providers.
- Ensuring that risk assessments are completed for DYT activities and that adequate measures are taken to reduce risks
Person Specification
- At least two years’ experience working in an arts, youth arts or youth organisation
- Demonstrable experience in financial management, including budget preparation, budget monitoring, and processing financial transactions.
- Experience in preparing, writing, and securing funding applications (e.g., Arts Council, local authority grants) and managing relationships with funders.
- Good knowledge of arts policy and youth arts policy in particular
- Good knowledge of current child protection and welfare guidelines
- Experience managing day-to-day operations, office administration, or facilities/building management.
- Experience conducting risk assessments and implementing health and safety measures for public or youth activities.
- Ability to multi-task and oversee the logistical delivery of a busy year-round programme (workshops, festivals, large-scale productions, residentials).
- Highly organized with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and community-focused environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Digital literacy to maintain websites, manage media databases, and handle public/press relations.
- Ability to work closely and collegially with the Artistic Director, Programme Coordinator, and a Board of Directors.
- Alignment with DYT’s mission of providing a welcoming, fun, and socially diverse environment for youth from all parts of Dublin.
- Willingness to work outside normal office hours, including highly flexible hours at key times such as festivals, productions, network events etc
- An understanding of Data Protection regulations and compliance.
Hours of Work 20-30 hours per week, to be agreed with the successful candidate. The post holder will be expected to carry out any reasonable duties as requested and be available to work flexible hours (evenings and weekends when needed to facilitate the artistic programme). Time in lieu offered for hours of approved overtime worked.
Salary €40,000 per annum pro-rata, per working hours agreed
Holidays Paid leave will be calculated on a pro-rata basis of four working weeks with additional days off during Christmas period closure
