Co-operative Housing Ireland (CHI) is the national organisation representing, promoting and developing co-operative housing in Ireland. Since our foundation in 1973 we have provided over 5,700 homes through homeownership, shared ownership and social rented co-operatives. As an Approved Housing Body (AHB), we work with various stakeholders in the housing sector, including Local Authorities, Government, aspiring homeowners, tenants and developers. We currently manage over 5,000 properties across Ireland.

ROLE OVERVIEW

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Accountant to join our Finance team in our Dublin 2 office. The post holder will have responsibility for providing accounting expertise and to be responsible for the preparation of management accounts, financial accounts to filing, budget, cashflow and analytics. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) and have previous experience working in a similar role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Monthly Management Accounts Preparation: 

  • Ensure timely preparation of the Monthly Management accounts pack for the Board to include standard financial reports with supporting schedules, variance reporting and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Liaise regularly with departmental Managers to support in Budget tracking and reporting requirements.
  • Undertake the monthly routine journal postings and coordinate all inputs prior to the monthly reports production.

Annual Audit process: 

  • Liaise & co-ordinate with the external statutory auditors in the preparation of the Annual Audit and Audit field work.
  • Communicate to Management with regular progress reporting.
  • Co-ordinate the uploads to the Audit portal of all required schedules relating to the Core Finance function.
  • Review the final Audit report and coordinate signatures and filing of the Accounts with the RFS.

Annual Budget preparation: 

  • Co-ordinate with Budget owners in the preparation of the Annual Budget information.
  • Collate departmental Budget information and produce a consolidated CHI Budget for Management review.

Fixed Asset Accounting: 

  • To maintain and update the CHI fixed asset register monthly.
  • Perform monthly depreciation and amortisation calculation routines with nominal ledger postings.
  • Monthly Nominal Reconciliations of the Fixed Asset Register with the Asset & Loans Register and Asset Management databases.

Cashflow Accounting: 

  • Preparation of the monthly cashflow statement as part of the monthly Management Accounts.
  • Support Treasury function by co-ordinating inputs to the rolling cash flow forecasting process.

General Duties:

  • Assigned BOI Administrator for Online banking.
  • Undertake the Year Ending and period closing each month in Castleton Financials.
  • Beneficiary approver and Payment uploads and approvals.
  • Dept. of Finance – BI-Annual Financial Survey submission.
  • Housing Regulator – Support in providing financial inputs to the AHBHRA Annual submissions.
  • Support in the provision of Quarterly Covenant management accounts reports to external Funders.
  • Participate in any Internal Audit processes when necessary.
  • Ad hoc tasks directed by Finance Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Accountant with min 3–5-year experience in similar role.
  • Strong Excel, analytical and modelling skills required.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of an integrated team.
  • Excellent communication skills with an ability to report to senior Management including Board sub-committee.
