Job Title: Education and Engagement Lead
Location: Dublin - Hybrid working available - required 2 days in person
Reporting to: Head of Community Development
Contract: 1 year fixed-term contract, part-time
Hours: 22.5 hours per week
Days: 3 days weekly
Salary: €27,000 gross per annum

Reporting to the Head of Community Development, this is an exciting opportunity to join and support the growth of an organisation that has already made a real community, environmental, and business impact.
FoodCloud partners with community organisations across Ireland. Our Community Partners are an incredibly innovative and diverse network, with limited time and resources. The role of the Community Education and Engagement Lead within the Community Development Team (CDT), will be key to position community food sharing as a vibrant, diverse and innovative movement that goes beyond traditional ‘food banking’ stereotypes, showing that it’s about connection, dignity and local impact. We aim to support and inspire our community partners, connect them to a wider movement, and shift public perception so everyone sees community food systems as dynamic, inclusive and transformative.
This role will require travel to support community engagement work.
Key Responsibilities:
Grow Network
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community networks that can engage new partners directly, and act as the primary liaison for community leaders and networks to align community food sharing with national Climate Action and Public Health Roadmaps
Programme Research and Design
- Build off existing research to identify activities that increase surplus food redistribution capacity and address current barriers for community organisations.
- Collaborate across teams to innovate and develop new projects that make FoodCloud services more accessible, sustainable and scalable.
- Design and pilot engagement models that support community partner recruitment and surplus food redistribution.
- Lead phase 2 of The Hub and Host Project, funded by the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine and the Golden Jubilee Trust;
- Lead Steering Group to establish and strengthen regional redistribution partnerships (e.g. Hub & Host)
- Explore what local-level supports, networks and systems look like through Hub and Host partnerships
- Collaboratively determine working partnership model beyond the lifetime of current funding.
Education & Training Projects
Work with the FoodCloud Academy Project Manager to;
- Develop and lead school and university engagement initiatives to foster a culture of climate action and food sharing with FoodCloud.
- Deliver capacity building education and training for community partners to;
- Enable scalable localised engagement through strategic community led collaborations
- Deliver educational activities to help community partners to operationalise surplus food
- Create mechanisms for peer-to-peer knowledge exchange across the community partner network
Advocacy & Storytelling
- Represent FoodCloud in key advocacy and network events.
- Collect and share stories and data that demonstrate the "broader social value" of food redistribution to influence national policy and public discourse.
- Support the Storyhunters project pilot, an internal project focused on strengthening the influence and visibility of our community partner network.
- Work with the comms and marketing team to curate and circulate community newsletters, blogs, and social media content that feature the lived experiences of our partners
Skills & Experience:
- Experience working in the community or voluntary sector required
- 4–5 years in community/public engagement, user centred service design, or development education
- A full, clean driving licence and willing to travel
- Facilitation, stakeholder engagement and participatory processes
- Partnership development and network building
- Strategic planning and systems thinking
- Social impact measurement, evaluation and learning
- Communications (visual storytelling and copywriting)
- Computer literate in dealing with Microsoft & Google Suites and CRM systems (Salesforce)
- Research, analysis and report writing
- Service design and user-centred service development
- Flexible, creative with the ability to adapt to a changing and challenging environment
- Able to work in a self-directed manner
- A commitment to the values of foodcloud / Interest in environmental/ food/climate change issues
- FoodCloud is a small organisation with big ambitions! You will be required to get involved in supporting many aspects in the development of the organisation, which may include ad hoc projects and events
