Role Overview

The Domestic Violence & Abuse Training Officer is responsible for the strategic design, delivery and continuous development of high-quality, trauma-informed domestic abuse training across community, professional and corporate settings.

This role plays a critical part in increasing awareness and deepening understanding of domestic violence and abuse, strengthening survivor-centred and trauma-informed responses across services, and building professional confidence, competence and accountability in practice. It also contributes directly to the financial sustainability of Saoirse Domestic Violence Services through the development and delivery of commissioned and income-generating training programmes.

The Domestic Violence & Abuse Training Officer will act as a professional ambassador for Saoirse, ensuring that all training reflects best practice, current legislation, and the organisation’s mission, values and strategic pillars.

Key Responsibilities

Training Design & Delivery 

  • Design and deliver engaging, trauma-informed domestic abuse training for a range of audiences, including community groups, frontline professionals, and corporate organisations.
  • Deliver training in a variety of formats, including face-to-face, online, and hybrid sessions.
  • Ensure all training content reflects current legislation, best practice, and safeguarding standards and the Mission and Values of Saoirse Domestic Violence services
  • Contribute to the development of a sustainable training offer that generates income for the organisation. 

Community & Corporate Engagement 

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organisations, statutory services, and corporate partners.
  • Represent the organisation professionally at meetings, events, and networking opportunities.
  • Promote the organisation’s training offer to external stakeholders.
  • Work alongside the Senior Leadership structure so there is full representation of all of the pillars throughout the training being designed and delivered.

  • Demonstrate a recovery based, survivor-centred, inclusive, and non-judgemental approach at all times.

About you - Person Specification

Essential 

  • Significant experience working in the field of domestic abuse (e.g. support, advocacy, prevention, or related roles). Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of domestic abuse dynamics, including coercive control and the impact on survivors.
  • Confidence in engaging with a wide range of audiences, including professionals and corporate clients.
  • Ability to contribute to income generation through training delivery.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple training commitments. 

Desirable 

  • Experience delivering training to corporate or professional audiences.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory frameworks.
  • Experience of developing training materials and packages for sale or commission.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed and survivor-centred practice. 

 Additional Requirements 

  • Willingness to work flexibly, including occasional evenings or weekends.
  • Ability to travel to deliver training as required.
  • Commitment to the values and mission of the organisation.
