Coolmine Therapeutic Community is recruiting for a Day Services Manager.

Salary:

€60,000 

 

Purpose:

The Day Services Manager will display excellent leadership skills to develop and manage Coolmine’s long established day services in Coolmine House. Coolmine House is a modified Therapeutic Community which provides services along all stages of the continuum of care.

The manager will be responsible for the day-to-day management of all programmes housed in Coolmine House and ensuring that both the operational and strategic goals of all services are achieved.

Coolmine is a leading drug and alcohol treatment service providing community, day and residential services to men and women with problematic substance use and their families in Ireland established since 1973. Coolmine Therapeutic Community believes that everyone should have the opportunity to overcome addiction and lead a fulfilled and productive life.

Role Responsibilities: (Include, but not limited to)

Service Delivery: 

  • Accountable for the management and smooth and efficient delivery of all services housed in Coolmine House including Contact and assessment, Admissions, Drug free day Programme, Stabilization programmes, PuP, Aftercare and Family Support in line with a Therapeutic Community approach to treatment
  • Responsible for ensuring “community “is at the heart of service delivery 
  • To take on the development and management of future Day services in line with Coolmine’s upcoming 3 year strategic plan 
  • Review and evaluate the effectiveness of the services under your control through mediums such as care plan reviews, internal statistics, client and staff feedback, quality peer reviews and audits- identifying areas for improvement and implementing the necessary changes.
  • Develop and manage an outreach strategy ensuring  thorough assessments of all clients’ needs are in place. Responsible for appropriate management of reviewing care plans pre-admission and implementing action plans where gaps and barriers exist 
  • Enhance overall service delivery by establishing links with external agencies and build relationships to assist in information sharing, inter-agency working and collaborative projects as outlined in Coolmine’s strategic plan. 
  • Participate actively in agreed formal networks representing the best interests of Coolmine and your particular project. 
  • To establish pathways with relevant housing/education providers that match the needs of Coolmine clients in the day services 
  • To establish relationships and partnerships with Recovery networks that match the social and well being needs of clients in the day services 
  • Maintain clear and accurate records of service activity in line with SLA and Responsible submitting reports, including monthly and quarterly updates
  • Monitor compliance with all operational procedures; review their effectiveness including annual audit processes and GDPR and take appropriate action where necessary. Ensure that services are underpinned by appropriate Quality Standards (SBHC/QuADS / CofC), as agreed in consultation with the Deputy Head of services.

Management and Leadership 

  • Provide excellent leadership and direct line management supervision to the team in Coolmine House supporting the delivery of all programmes and other areas within their responsibility 
  • Develop annual operational service plans in line with agreed annual strategic plan priorities and be responsible for the delivery of these across the day services. 
  • Coordinate regular planning and review days for services and report on progress to Deputy Head of service on a monthly basis
  • Ensure that there are good communications and teamwork within and between services you are responsible for, and that any issues arising are dealt with promptly and fairly and in accordance with Coolmine policies and procedures. Specifically ensure that there are weekly team meetings, reflective practice and effective team process outlets in place in all areas under your management.
  • Work with the Head of HR to ensure the services are delivering in all areas of Human Resources, with particular emphasis on Performance Management, Communications and the delivery of the Annual Training Plan
  • Participate in the manager on-call rota as laid down in the policy covering this area.

Building and Environment 

  • Develops and Oversee a maintenance strategy, ensuring all aspects of building maintenance and repair are attended to in a timely manner and make recommendations for building improvements/enhancements. 
  • Responsible for ensuring the building is a safe and warm environment in line with Coolmines values of dignity and respect 
  • Ensure all Health and Safety requirements including application of policy and procedures, risk assessment, contingency management, mandatory training are in place and adhered to. . 
  • Assist in the annual budget preparation in conjunction with the Head of Finance and Support services and ensure delivery of all financial targets through financial review weekly, monthly and quarterly. Take corrective action where necessary.
  • Work with Communications and Fundraising Department to apply for funding/grants to enhance service delivery and environmental enhancements in line with operational plans.

Qualifications 

  1. Third level qualification in addictions or related field. 
  2. Professional management qualification preferred.
  3. CORU accreditation or other regulatory body accreditation preferred or working towards 

Experience:

  1. Management experience and demonstrated effectiveness in the voluntary sector. 
  2. Proven record of leadership capability in the supervision of teams.
  3. Leadership and Management experience of Community or day services
  4. Knowledge of the Therapeutic Community model of Treatment and previous experience of working within this model
  5. Experience in interagency collaboration and developing partnership 
  6. Three years' experience of work with drug and alcohol users and excluded groups.
  7. Knowledge and experience of clinical governance. 
  8. Experience of budget processes and control.

Knowledge:

  1. Familiar with various models of addiction as well as best practice in detox, rehabilitation, aftercare and recovery. 
  2. Knowledge of Equal Opportunities and Health and Safety, and the implications of both within the working environment.
  3. A knowledge of best practice in working with drug users and other excluded groups.
  4. Knowledge of legislation affecting the voluntary sector.

  9. Capacity to manage a wide range of activities at once and effectively work under pressure.
  10. Understands how to compile statistics and report on same.
  11. Ability to contribute proactively, positively and effectively to the senior management team
  12. Commitment to meeting the needs of excluded and marginalised people.
