Communication Manager

Accountable for enhancing brand awareness, storytelling, advocacy, fundraising support, and community engagement.

In line with our strategic plan and continued growth, we are seeking to recruit a full-time Communications Manager who will play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality communications across Festina Lente. This role will lead the development and implementation of Festina Lente’s communications strategy across digital, media, stakeholder, and internal communications channels.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, creativity, professionalism, and sound judgement, with the ability to build strong relationships and represent the organisation effectively. They will be highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.

Based at: The primary base for the position will be in our HQ at Old Connaught Avenue, Bray, Co Wicklow. As part of our strategic growth, we are relocating to Belfield House, Kilpedder, Co. Wicklow within a timeframe of 2 years.

Contract Type: Full-Time, 39hr week (Monday to Friday, 08.00am to 16.30pm), on a fixed term contractual basis for a three year term.

Key role and Responsibility:

Strategic Communications

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive communications and PR strategy aligned with Festina Lente’s strategic goals,
  • Increase awareness of Festina Lente’s programmes, impact, and social enterprise activities,
  • Ensure consistent messaging and brand identity across all communications,
  • Monitor communication performance and provide regular reporting and insights.

Digital Communications & Content

  • Manage and grow Festina Lente’s digital presence across website, email marketing, and social media platforms.
  • Create compelling written, visual, and video content to engage diverse audiences.
  • Develop campaigns to support fundraising, advocacy, events, recruitment, and programme promotion.
  • Oversee website updates, content management, and SEO optimisation.
  • Analyse digital metrics and optimise engagement strategies.

Media & Public Relations

  • Build and maintain relationships with media outlets, journalists, and sector stakeholders,
  • Draft press releases, media statements, speeches, and briefing materials.
  • Coordinate media opportunities, interviews, and public events.
  • Support crisis communications and reputational management when required.

Team Management

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and day-to-day management to the Social Media Coordinator.
  • Support the planning, delivery, and evaluation of social media campaigns and content calendars.
  • Foster professional development through coaching, feedback, and performance management.
  • Ensure alignment between social media activity and the wider communications strategy.
  • Encourage creativity, collaboration, and high-quality content production across digital channels.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Support communication with funders, donors, community partners, and government agencies.
  • Collaborate with Heads of Function to capture stories, outcomes, and participant experiences.
  • Promote the voice and lived experience of Festina Lente’s internal audience in an ethical and inclusive way.

Internal Communications

  • Support staff communications and organisational engagement initiatives,
  • Develop internal newsletters and communication resources,
  • Encourage a culture of collaboration and shared storytelling across the organisation, as a central part of the journey to Belfield.

Fundraising & Campaign Support

  • Work closely with fundraising partner to support donor campaigns and grant communications,
  • Develop impact reports, case studies, and campaign materials,
  • Support event promotion and sponsorship visibility.

Training and Development

  • Attending all designated training workshops as it pertains to skills development
  • Active participation in management team meetings

Health & Safety

  • Responsible for always demonstrating safety leadership within the team to the utmost standards of Health & Safety in accordance with the organisational policies and legislation,
  • Ensuring the safety of staff and visitors within the office and administration spaces

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging to diverse audiences.
  • Strong storytelling and content development abilities across print, digital, and multimedia platforms.
  • Knowledge of social media strategy, audience engagement, and analytics tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities effectively.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyse communication performance data and translate insights into action
  • Experience managing and supporting staff performance and professional development.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management and networking abilities.
  • Understanding of inclusive, accessible, and values-based communications practices.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.

Education & Experience

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree or professional qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, or related field.
  • Proven experience in a communications, PR, or marketing role.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
  • Strong experience managing social media platforms and digital campaigns.
  • Experience using CMS platforms, email marketing tools, and analytics.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working in the charity, social enterprise, disability, or community sector.
  • Graphic design and multimedia content creation skills.
  • Experience with fundraising communications.
  • Knowledge of accessibility and inclusive communication practices.

Language: Fluent English

Work Authorisation: Ireland, required
