Baile an Aoire, part of Good Shepherd Cork (GSC) provides long-term supported housing to women who are vulnerable, offering a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment where residents can rebuild stability, independence, and wellbeing.
We work from a trauma-informed, person-centred approach, grounded in respect, dignity, and choice. We are now seeking a Care Assistant on a permanent basis (30 hours per week) to join our team and contribute to a service that prioritises safety, empowerment, and meaningful support.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, the successful candidate will:
- Work within the ethos and values of GSC
- Promote and create a welcoming and caring therapeutic environment within Baile An Aoire
- Undertake daily care tasks with residents, including hygiene, household support, health, and other personal and social care needs as required
- Proactively engage with residents in terms of meeting their needs and creating an environment built on trust, respect, co-operation and choice
- Develop and implement care plans for and with each resident, with the team, and any professionals involved with the resident
- Ensure service standards, including daily care tasks, activities and other social care needs are delivered
- Liaise with service manager and other professionals, as appropriate
- Maintain all required records in a safe, secure and confidential manner, adhering to GDPR requirements, ensuring confidentiality
- Participate in team meetings, supervision and service-related meetings
- Ensure GSC policies and procedures are complied with, ensuring a quality holistic service is delivered
- Ensure all activities and actions are completed in a safe and healthy manner, as set out in the services’ Safety Statement
- Support financial management of service, aligned with and responsive to evolving residents’ needs
- Take on other such duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time
What we are looking for
- Demonstrated commitment to the vision, mission and values of GSC
- QQI Level 5 qualification in healthcare
- A strong ability to work on one’s own initiative
- A professional, caring and empathetic approach to working with women who are vulnerable
- Excellent interpersonal and team working skills
- Full, clean driving licence (desirable)
