Business in the Community Ireland (BITCI) is excited to invite candidates to apply for the position of Business Engagement Specialist in BITCI’s Business Engagement Team. This is an exciting new role created to advance our updated strategy. Purpose of the role: We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Engagement Specialist to join our newly formed Business Engagement Team. The role will report to the Head of Business Engagement and will focus on driving our reach for impact.  

Job Summary  

  • 12-month Fixed Term Contract (FTC) with potential to become a permanent role
  • This role is responsible for managing relationships with a portfolio of members, identifying opportunities for growth through upselling, renewals, and new member acquisition.
  • A sectoral approach will be taken to identifying opportunities with targets set for growth in membership and engagement.
  • Full-Time (35 hours per week) - subject to a 6-month probationary period. 
  • Salary €44,400-€52,000 per annum DOE.
  • Role is based in Dublin (hybrid role, 2 days in the office location is Dublin 7).
  • Strong IT skills with full proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.

Job Description 

Purpose of the role: We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business engagement specialist to join our newly formed Business Engagement Team. The role will report to the Head of Business Engagement and will focus on driving our reach for impact.  

Core Responsibilities  

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned members and partners, ensuring a high level of satisfaction, engagement, and retention.
  • Support onboarding of new members, guiding them through the benefits and services available.
  • Proactively monitor member engagement to anticipate and address needs.
  • Manage the member renewal process for your portfolio, addressing any concerns and maximizing retention.
  • Lead the development of an aligned customer journey across all departments of Business in the Community Ireland to ensure a One-BITCI approach.
  • Identify high level processes involved in offering a One-BITCI experience to members and business partners and work with teams to implement.
  • Share member and partner feedback to internal teams as input to shape the ongoing development of services.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver value-added event experiences and ensure consistent delivery of the BITCI proposition. May be required to speak at events.
  • Maintain accurate member records and communication logs in CRM systems. 

Business Development 

  • Identify and engage prospective members through research, outreach, and networking, focusing on specific sectors.
  • Develop a deep understanding of target markets and industries to communicate a compelling BITCI proposition to these markets.
  • Support the development of proposals and presentations to communicate membership and/or partnership/sponsorship value to potential members.
  • Participating in relevant industry events, conferences, and networking opportunities to build relationships and promote membership growth.  This may require speaking at events.
  • Track and report on new business development activities, including pipeline management and conversion rates. 

Person specification  

Qualifications and Knowledge  

Educated to degree level (or with equivalent experience), preferably in business, social sciences, sustainable development, or a related discipline.  

Experience  

  • 5+ years of experience in account management, client services, or business development, ideally within a membership-based or service-oriented organisation.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Experience in client relationship management at senior level.
  • Solid track record of acquiring new business, working with targets and clear KPIs.
  • Familiarity with sustainability & social inclusion as a business imperative.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Skilled at giving impactful multi-stakeholder presentations. 

Other Desirable Skills and Experience 

  • Broad understanding of business operations (Sales and Marketing, Finance, HR, IT) and knowledge of the Irish business landscape
  • Familiarity with CRM tools and Microsoft Office Suite.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties. There may be other ad-hoc duties assigned from time to time, and the BE Specialist will be expected to support the Business Engagement Team as needed, in line with the overall organisational objectives of Business in the Community Ireland.
