Accountant : Cork City (On Site)
Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Charity Accountant will safeguard financial health, transparency, and compliance while supporting the organisation’s charitable mission.
Responsibilities include preparing monthly management accounts with variance analysis; producing reports for senior management, trustees, and funders; supporting year-end accounts and liaising with auditors; and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and statutory requirements.
The role leads budgeting and forecasting, monitors performance, and supports managers with financial planning and cost control. The postholder manages payroll, ensures accurate Revenue submissions, and handles staff queries. They will also prepare and submit VAT returns, maintain reconciliations, and liaise with Revenue and advisors.
A key part of the role is strengthening financial systems, improving processes, developing reporting tools, and training staff. The Charity Accountant will maintain internal controls, conduct audits, support risk management, and help document policies and procedures.
The position provides financial guidance to non-finance colleagues, contributes to funding applications, and supports strategic planning and long-term sustainability.
Candidates should be part-qualified or qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) with experience in management accounts, budgeting, systems improvement, and communicating financial information clearly.
