Championing Your Right to Good Public Services - the Role of the Ombudsman
Championing Your Right to Good Public Services - the Role of the Ombudsman
Your are invited to join the Ombudsman, Ger Deering, at this special members-only webinar on Friday, 17 October at 10am. Ger will be answering your questions on his role and describe some of the complaints his office has investigated about public bodies, such as the HSE, the Department of Social Protection and third-level education bodies.
While most interactions with public services go well, you or someone in the communities you support and represent may want to know what to do if something goes wrong in their dealings with a public body such as Government departments, local authorities, the HSE, public hospitals, public and private nursing homes and publicly-funded third level education bodies.
The Office of the Ombudsman is an impartial State body, independent of Government, that investigates complaints from members of the public who believe that they have been unfairly treated by certain public service providers. If you have made a complaint to a public body, and are unhappy with the response, then you can contact the Ombudsman who will investigate your complaint. If the Ombudsman finds that you have been unfairly treated, he will ensure that the public body takes steps to put things right.
In the webinar the Ombudsman will cover:
- The role of the Ombudsman
- How to complain to his Office
- Some complaints his Office has dealt with
- Questions and comments.
