Community Matters
Community Matters

Polling day on Friday, 24 May 2019 marked the end of our local and European election campaign, Community Matters.

The Community Matters campaign focused on the value the sector holds in every community throughout Ireland and how it impacts on all of our lives. Without the charity, community and voluntary and social enterprise sector, our society would be lessened as we advocate for communities and fill the gaps left by the state by providing the essential services and supports which are so vitally needed.

We based the campaign around 5 main themes and asked candidates to sign a pledge with tailored asks relevant to local and European government. The themes are:

  1. Valuing the Nonprofit Sector
  2. Securing Our Future
  3. Listening Local, Advocating National
  4. Focusing on Those We Support
  5. Giving Us a Seat at the Table

We are delighted to announce that throughout the campaign 223 local candidates and 34 European candidates signed our pledge.

A massive thanks to all our members, and supportive candidates, for their incredible support of the campaign and for sharing the messages of Community Matters.
