Remote Learning – Trauma Informed Practice

Posted on 7 Mar 2022

Dates: 19 and 20 May 2022

Times: 09.30 to 16.30 (GMT+1) each day

This Trauma Informed Practice workshop aims to help people working in the provision of care to become trauma aware. The workshop does not train participants to become trauma therapists.

The purpose of this two day remote training is to start a conversation about how trauma and adversity affects and has affected those who use the services we provide and the appropriate responses we can implement and offer; to reflect on how others’ trauma experiences may affect those of us providing services – vicarious trauma and; to examine how we, as professionals, volunteers and peer workers, can embrace a trauma informed approach, including self-care, within our practice.

This workshop will be delivered live on Zoom: The course will allow you to interact with your trainer and other participants in a virtual classroom where, in addition to the workshop content, there will be time built in for live discussions, question & answer sessions and skills practice.

Participants should have some work experience.  Suitable for: Therapists and Counsellors (please note: this is not designed for experienced therapists), early childhood Educators and Care Professionals and those working in Social Care, Youth and Family Care, Nursing Practitioners, Addiction Services and Homeless Agencies.

This training is also suitable for those working with or meeting service users including support staff, reception staff, canteen staff, managers, Board of Management etc.

Members of The Addiction Counsellors of Ireland can earn CPD points for participating in the workshop. There is other accreditation pending.
