The Creative Ireland Grant Scheme is Open for Applications
The Creative Ireland grant scheme is open for applications.
Closing date is 13 February.
There will be two grant calls one for Cruinniú na nÓg and one for Creative Ireland. Information will be available to download from the Kilkenny County council website or the Arts Office Blog from the 5th of January. Creative Ireland Programme aims to empower creatives and communities to express creativity throughout society and relevant programmes and policies. We ask you to directly link your idea/proposal/initiative to one (or more) five strategic priorities with clear objectives to fulfil the Council’s creative vision for Kilkenny:
- Vibrant communities
- Local Economic Development
- Climate Action
- Town Centre First.

What items and expenses are ineligible?
- Publications
- Spend on alcoholic beverages, fines, penalty payments, legal cost, audit fees, financial consultancy fees
- Any proposal where it is determined that the main beneficiary would be a private entity
- In general, the cost of items for resale
- Assets or equipment e.g.: vouchers, memoirs for participants, musical instruments, art works, projectors, laptops, tablets etc
- Accommodation
- Projects that do not relate to the Kilkenny’s Culture and/or the Creative Ireland Programme.
Creative Ireland is a culture-based programme designed to promote individual, community, and national wellbeing. The core proposition is that participation in cultural activity drives personal and collective creativity, with significant implications for individual and societal wellbeing and achievement. We are trying to do is build communities, a co-production piece were people work in collaboration with artists, musicians, writers, digital skills, animators, writers and crafts people.
What can the grant be spent on?
- Materials for example art and craft materials, wool etc
- Food
- Rent
- Project management
- Administration costs, postage advertising, printing of flyers.
- Pay to enlist an artist, theatre maker, musician, dance teacher, writer, craft per or professional in the creative field for example stonemason, circus performer or digital developer.
- Travel for example to bring young people to an event.
