Community Engagement Information Event for the Energia Meenadreen Windfarm Community Benefit Fund

Posted on 16 Sep 2019

Energia’s 95MW wind farm at Meenadreen in south Donegal is one of the largest in Ireland.  With 38 turbines, it’s capable of producing enough electricity to power 50,000 homes using green energy, which will reduce the island’s carbon dioxide emissions by 100,000 tonnes each year.

At the opening of the wind farm two years ago, Peter Baillie, Managing Director of Energia Renewables, announced a €95k community benefit fund – initially for 2017/18 and now continuing into 2019/2020.

The Energia Meenadreen Community Benefit Interim Fund has been established to support community based projects that make a difference for people in Meenadreen, County Donegal and that provide added long-term benefit to the local community.

In preparation for the opening of the application round in October 2019 we will be holding a grantee focussed information evening for the local community.

WHEN?

6pm to 8pm, Thursday 26th September 2019

WHERE?

The Abbey Hotel, Donegal Town, Co. Donegal

OVERVIEW

The Community Foundation for Ireland and Energia Meenadreen Windfarm Community Benefit Fund invites community and voluntary organisations, and members of the local community to join us for a grantee focussed information evening.

We will outline the key aims and objectives for the Community Benefit Fund, we will discuss the grant application process, how to make a strong grant application and the assessment process. We will focus on the criteria for applications opening in October 2019 as well as allowing time for Q&A and Community Feedback.

We recommend this evening for those who have previously applied for funding whether your organisation was successful or not, we would also encourage members of the community who may have an interest in making an application but are unsure of how to proceed.

We will be joined by a representative from Energia, who will describe how you can make the most of the partnership.

HOW TO REGISTER

Please register your interest in attending this information evening by emailing our Grants and Donor Services Executive Elaine Murphy at emurphy@foundation.ie or phone the office on 01 874 7354 to find out more information.
